Shark Bait 5.1 Operation from a CD RW Disk

Shark Bait may be synchronized when operated on two computer systems, e.g. a Desktop and Laptop.  This will insure that the latest data entries are the same on both computers.  If the two computers are not apart of a network, they may be manually synchronized with the use of a CD RW drive.  To do so, both computers must be equipped with a CD RW drive; and Shark Bait must be completely installed and registered to both computers with a valid Registration Number for each installation.

To operate on both computers from a CD RW disk, copy the file called "SB51c.mde", located in the "C:\Program Files\Shrkbait51" directory.   Then paste it onto the CD RW disk.

Then change the shortcut path to open the Shark Bait program.  To do so:

  1. Find the shortcut to open the Shark Bait program, located in the Shark Bait folder, under the Start button, then Programs, then the Shark Bait folder.

  2. Then highlight the shortcut.

  3. Then right click on the shortcut.

  4. Then click on Properties.

  5. Then click on the Shortcut tab.

  6. Then find the Target window.

  7. Then place your cursor in the window and carefully scroll to the right (use your right arrow key on the keyboard).

  8. Find the section of the path within the shortcut that refers to:

    "C:\Program Files\Shrkbait51\SB51c.mde"

  9. Change just this section of the path to read:

    "D:SB51c.mde"

  10. Note in the above path, "D" should represent the drive letter for your CD RW drive.  This may be "E" or another letter.  It may also vary on each computer system.

  11. Then click Apply and OK.

  12. Then place the CD RW disk (with the SB51c.mde.mde file on it) into the 2nd computer's CD RW drive.

  13. Then repeat Steps 1 through 11 above on the 2nd computer.

You will then be able to launch Shark Bait from the CD RW drive in each computer.  To transfer the program from one computer to the next, simply insert the CD RW disk in the other computer.

Note, as transferable media is more prone to damage or loss, it is highly recommended that you backup the SB51c.mde file to a safe folder, as often as possible.
